Access to the River is Quick & Easy

Located just 5 minutes from FireSide, CreekSide & The Adams Cabin  is a great facility, The Larry Joe Harless
Community Center.   With a pavilion that overlooks the Guyandotte River, you won't want to miss a visit to Gilbert's, state
of the art facility,  Use of the center is open to the public and you do not have to be a member to use the facility.  When last
checked, student day passes were $5, adults $7 and a family can use the facility for $12 per day.  There is a weight room,
1/16 of a mile running or walking track, Nautilus fitness center, aerobics & dance studio, wrestling room, full-size
gymnasium, 6-lane Olympic indoor pool, whirlpool & sauna, locker rooms and an arcade.   And if this is not enough, there
is also meeting and conference rooms available with full catering services as well as Marshall's Learning Resource
Center, 3 movie theaters, youth outdoor playground, outdoor tennis and basketball courts.

R.D. Bailey Lake  (RD's website temporarily down ???)  "The Visitor’s Center is perched 365 feet above the lake
providing a breathtaking view of the dam, lake and surrounding forest. Viewing telescopes are mounted on the observation
deck. Visitor center exhibits show opportunities available at the lake and provide a better understanding of the project. Tours
are available of the dam and intake structure.  Visit the website at

Located about 45 minutes from Gilbert, still in the heart of West Virginia's southern coalfields, Chief
Logan State Park is four miles north of the town of Logan. The park and town share the name of the
Chief of the Cayuga Tribe (also known as the Mingo tribe).  Today the 4,000-acre park is one of the
most visited in the state park system. The park features a 25-site camp- ground, modern restaurant,
outdoor amphitheater, conference ctr & wildlife ctr. The recreation enthusiast can enjoy hiking trails, a
swimming pool with water slide, tennis, and miniature golf. Picnic shelters and playgrounds are found
throughout the park.
